A frequent visitor to the USA, An Wei is an Honorary Professor of Maple Woods Community College, Kansas City, Missouri and was named "Honorary Citizen" of Kansas City, Missouri, hometown of Edgar Snow, for his contribution to the US-China people's understanding and friendship. .

An Wei also won five Chinese prizes in literary translation and for the Snow Studies between 1982-1992. He received The 20th Century Achievement Award by the American Biographic Institute in 1996. His biographic data has been included in a dozen of Who's Who in China as well as in the U. K. and the USA.

"All of us, the hosts and the volunteers, are fully aware of the importance of building bridges of understanding and friendship in the world. We have a simple but true philosophy: There is only one way to be happy, and that is to make somebody else so. Global Volunteers give their love to our students, and they are naturally loved by the entire Chinese people. There is no better way to bring the spirit of
Lei Feng back to China."
